Projects > Family Life Centres of York Region - Creating a Common Vision
The three existing family life centres in York Region are working towards amalgamation in the spring of 2005. One of the key components of a successful amalgamation will be creation of a common vision for the future.
Bourrie & Associates developed and delivered a full-day workshop for Board members and staff of the three centres in October 2003. The workshop was an opportunity for everyone to: meet each other; explore ideas; break down barriers and misconceptions; and to work towards the creation of a common vision. The most gratify comment expressed on the workshop evaluation forms stated:
"The workshop really opened our minds to the possibility
and challenges of amalgamation. I was pleased to see the
common ground between agencies."
Andrea continued to work with the Mega Board to create a draft vision document based on the ideas and images collected from the three centres. It is a picture of how amalgamated family life services in York Region might look and feel in twenty or twenty-five years. It presents a "big-picture look ahead" - something to aim for. The Vision was endorsed at a staff/Board workshop in February 2004. Andrea continues to work with the Mega Board and staff to develop a Strategic Plan to be approved in May 2005.
